I have recently become a little infatuated with the idea of being a "natural beauty", but I still can't stand the idea of not dying my hair which is a little bit of an addiction with me. With this new craze of mine I've been thinking a lot about all these nasty chemicals which you find in shampoos, soaps and hair dyes which can't be good for you in the long run.
So, I am going to start trying a more natural approach. This weekend will be step one; starting to use Henna to dye my hair. I bought a 100g sachet from www.henna-boy.co.uk and I will be trying it out this weekend, so that will be exciting, although I have come to realise it takes a very long time as you have to mix the henna the night before and when you apply you should leave it on for about 4 hours to get the most dramatic effects. But I am willing to try, seeing as there are some added benefits to using henna other than the colour; its got no chemicals in it when you buy body art quality, has been said to leave your hair healthy and shiny and can even make it thicker apparently.
I think the next step will be to try using shampoo bars, which also contain less chemicals than bottles of shampoo as well as the added bonus of less packaging (this makes the little environmentalist in me happy!) I have also been thinking about trying to make my own soaps as after looking around on the internet it doesn't look as hard as I originally thought and this also means I know exactly what's in these bars of wonder I am rubbing all over myself and can make them in fragrances I like, creating my own scent!
I shall let you all know how the hair goes this weekend and will probably upload some photographs and maybe do a little "How to".
